This arc sistrum depicts the goddess with the curled wig, bound at intervals by ribbons. On both faces below the arc of the sistrum appears a uraeus, and again at either side of the goddess\u2019s head are uraei wearing the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt. The collar and inscription were accented with dark blue coloring of which traces remain. The arc is pierced for three wires, although there is no wear indicating they were ever inserted. Two columns of inscription appear on either side of the handle, one side reading:The young god, lord of the two lands, shakes the sistrum before the beautiful face of Hathor, lady of Dendera, lady of Heaven, mistress of all the gods, Eye of Re who has no equal in heaven or earth, great of love, mistress of women, one who fills heaven and earth with her beauty, god\u2019s mother of Kamutef, great royal wife of The-one-who-creates-what-is.The arc sistrum only appeared as of the 18th dynasty. The inscription on this one is quite close to one naming Isis that appears on the jambs of an Isis temple at Aswan. That temple dates to the reigns of Ptolemy III and IV, suggesting this sistrum may date to that era.Free picture Arc Sistrum integrated with the OffiDocs web apps
