This Buddhist votive shrine depicting the three prevailing deities of early Tibetan Buddhism is among the most complete examples of early molded-clay votive shrines from tenth-century Tibet. A Sanskrit ye dharma verse in Tibetan script adorns the stepped base, together with the three-jewel (triratna) motif. Iconographically, the work represents an early phase in Buddhist triad groupings; in later ensembles, Vajrapani is displaced by Manjushri.
