This lower part of a door blocked the entrance to a Middle Kingdom rock cut tomb. Doors like this rarely survived from ancient Egypt as most were removed in ancient times and re-used elsewhere once a tomb was not looked after anymore. This door was found wedged in place by rocks fallen from the cliffs above. Its lock had been cut away in ancient times. More than a thousand years later the vizier Nespekashuty of the time of King Psamtik I (664-610 B.
