NOTA BENE: Unlike the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy who wear their rate on one arm only, U.S.P.H.S. enlisted wear their rates on both arms and the American bald eagle, the specialty mark below above an open wreath all in maroon colour of both the white cotton blouse and on the navy-blue wool blouse. Chevrons were worn from 1914 to 1937 and a wreath took their place as there are only seamen and petty officer in one class only.
