Paronay Pushto Poetry book authored
by Rabia Mumtaz (Circa: 1970-2012). This book contains unique colletion of Pashto
language poetry and ghazals of Rabia Mumtaz. This is her second featured book written
& printed 2004. The first one is SPELANI Pashtu poetry written and publish
in 2000.
Rabia Mumtaz was born in religions
family in village Darmangi near Peshawa on Warsak road having four daughters
and three sons. One Col. Ziauddin got Shaheed in Sierra Leone, other is retired
as Major from Pakistan army whereas the eldest one migrated to Canada. She passed
away in 2013. (May the Peace, Mercy and Blessing of Allah be upon her).
She is the wife of Adullah Jan
Maghmoom a well-known poet, writer broadcaster and drama artist of Radio Pakistan
Peshawar also well known among Pashtun in Pakistan and around the world by his
alias Marchakay, Painda Khan and Hidayat Khan.
Rabia Mumtaz was home schooled and
her father was in the Indian British army as chaplain. Due to this reason, she
travelled all around India, getting vision and experience. Her father was a poet
too but does not have any published works.
In Pashtun culture it is very rare
to find a female writer particularly poets (Circa 1969-70). Her poetry was
broadcasted from radio Pakistan Peshawar which included Milli Nagham’s, ghazals
and folk songs etc.
She spent much of her thoughts on women
and their role in our society as mother, wife and daughter. She wrote and spoke
Urdu fluently, more over was very good in Hindko language.
To get an understanding of her
thoughts, feelings and literary level it would be pertinent to take a look at
the introduction of her second book:
“Grateful to all sisters’ and
brothers who liked my first book. I never thought that I would get this much
appreciation, so this gave me courage to publish my second book PARONAY quickly
and I hope I will get the same response again. Also planning to publish my third
book soon. (She passed away before that book was published).
In my first book, the subject was more
related to females (mothers and sisters), due to which the book was purchased mostly
by sisters. Some of my writer colleagues/brothers instructed me that I should be
more careful and write according to the rules and regulations of poetry, (at
that time) my reply was this that if my poetry in not at balance according to
ruled and regulations but still, I passed my message to the readers. They will
understand my viewpoints and the feeling that I wanted to be conveyed.
At present in this book I tried my
best to keep my poetry according to the rules and regulation of poetry and hope
there are no complaints.
In this book my topic is ghazals and
nazams. The subjects are related to village life, streets, home, kitchens, daughters,
sons and every day topics related to daily like of the common person. As I am a
sister, mother and wife, I tried my best to spread love and every reader should
leave some space for love in their hearts. By doing this we will spread love in
our homes, streets and all over the world.”
