Brooks Block circa 1898. Col. Henry C. Brooks built the Brooks Block, which opened in 1880, to house the first free public library in the Town of Harwich Massachusetts. The Library was located in several rooms on the second floor. Income from the rental of commercial spaces in the building was intended to support the Library.
