Sri Lanka's Genocide and war crimes. After May 18, 2009, most of the Tamil Diaspora who were protesting and ringing the warning bell in every civilized nation's door frustrated and depressed because their voices not heard. UN knew the casualty figures of Tamils but they kept quite, UN knew the war crimes took place by that time, but they praised Sri Lanka's criminality.. UN chief basically went to Vanni and said everything OK. Then UN conducted their internal investigation only after many human rights efforts and awareness campaigns. Several resolutions passed since then.
In this photo, the older person sitting in the middle is former leader of EROS, a Tamil military organization existed in 80s. Even though several Tamil militant groups existed, only very few fought against Sri Lanka's genocide. Many of them bought by India and became part of Sri Lanka's paramilitary. In history, EROS leader Balakumar joint his team with LTTE (Tamil Tigers) and he became a honored leader in LTTE. After end of 80s, Tamil Tigers (LTTE) were the only one that fought constantly against Sri Lanka's genocide and protected Tamils. In 90s, they established a sovereign country Tamil Eelam based on democratic mandate and that country existed until May 18, 2009.
In this photo, leader Balakumar was taken into custody by the Sri Lankan military and disappeared with other thousands of Tamils. There were many solid evident of war crimes. UN called for hybrid court, but Sri Lanka denied it. Now the question is why UN exists even if it can't pressure a tiny country? For Tamils part, last ten years, all of the Sri Lanka's war crimes and genocide against Tamils are documented even at UN and pending justice..
