Political cartoon created by Steve Benson, published in the Arizona Republic Editorial section on August 23, 1994. It depicts Cindy McCain holding a thin African child upside down, shaking a pill out of his mouth while saying "quit your crying and give me the drugs". This cartoon was hugely controversial and is now all but impossible to find online, as it is routinely scrubbed from search engines.
McCain was caught stealing drugs from a charity she created, The American Voluntary Medical Team, distribute medications to developing countries, and she used the names of unsuspecting employees to acquire more. She fired the whistleblower. Unlike many drug offenders during the 90's, McCain received no criminal charges, and the lawsuit filed by the whistleblower went away.
