The Harry Potter Archive Project spoke with senior producer, Stuart Whyte, in late 2020 and was kind enough to go digging for any ephemeral items during the development and early days of the Harry Potter games. He's also provided this project with further information and history on the infamous E3 2001 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone demo game play footage. A special thank you to Stuart for participating in these conversations and sharing all of the featured objects in this item!

Items include photos only of the following:

- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Nintendo Game Boy Advance development cartridge, front and back. This cartridge has not been dumped, however.
- Retail copy of Japanese Chamber of Secrets Game Boy Advance box art.
- What this project is dubbing the 'shelf of knowledge' aka, in his words, 'Random Stuff':

Stuart W:

"Three things to call out –

1. Custom name badge was made for each of the devs and we had them on our desks – Guy Miller, the creative director on the franchise, made each unique -I was a senior producer (or mystificator) and, as I was mostly working with a developer in Derby called Eurocom, I was from the dept. of EUROlogy)
2. Bertie Botts beans – I think I picked these up around that time – I don’t think they’re anything special?
3. Russian doll Harry Potter – this was very cool – I was demoing Harry Potter at E3 and a journalist from Eastern Europe came up and gave me the Russian doll as a thank you as he was a big potter fan!"

- Similar to Scott Johnson, formerly of WBIE in licensing, Stuart was also presented with framed copies of the games, Stuart W: "Framed versions of the games that were presented to all the developers when we shipped them."

-Also included are photos of chart positions from a UK-based trade magazine and Nintendo Power previews for CoS GameCube and Game Boy Advance.

On the nature of the contents of the development cart featured here,

"Cart: As producer on the title I was responsible for handing out the carts and ensuring that they were tracked (we didn’t have a huge number!). When we got a new build we’d just flash the EPROM with a new build – so although I no longer have a GBA and can’t say 100% - I think it’s VERY likely that the only version of the software that will be on there will be the final build – we didn’t really keep older builds on cart – it wouldn’t make sense due to them being a limited resource."

Russian Doll: "No worries. It was completely out of the blue at the show – a videogame journalist walked up and if rapidly became clear that he was also a MASSIVE potter fan – hence he’d brought a gift as he was so keen for the game to be great! His passion was lovely to see."

Demo Footage: "So that build at E3 was the PC version – and was very much a bare bones ‘proof of concept’ of Harry walking round Hogwarts – it pretty much had zero gameplay – just the ability to cast context sensitive spells. As such this demo was never played by any journalist – us demoers gave a ‘walkthrough’ allowing us to control the demo – it was very much on rails!"
