"I Saw His Face Upon The Blade"

by: Wes Robert Ward

I saw his face upon the blade, the sword that takes my head. I lay my back against the block, as Death creates more dead.

I've lived my life a thousand days. I've lived my life a thousand nights. In the beginning I was young and foolish, in the end I was old and wise.

My mind held much knowledge. My heart held true love. And yet my feet felt more of the thousands of deserts they've crossed to see what we've lost.

To see the man on the wooden cross, who grew a bed of roses on his head. Anchored for all to see, from the blood that spilled on the sand to the bestilled Red Sea.

And as the youthful years passed into the golden age, towards the great beyond, as I went on living before dying by the beheading blade, I remember that day more than the day that I was born.

And as the sword came down, severing the thread of my existence. I knew I'd see the man again, the face in the calming blade, that sword that bade me a fond farewell, the man I known and knew, in the garden of roses that he grew.

The End. \ud83c\udf39
