To the north-west of Rift City lies this infamous forest of birch-like trees with almost completely white bark, Ivory Forest. The stories about it go back a long time, as these woods are even mentioned in some of the oldest known recordings, describing the forest as a very unusual place. Though, one thing is for certain: The beauty of the marble-like surroundings and colorful flowers on the forest floor you pass on your way through it, as well as its calm nature, are definitely not the things that Ivory Forest is so well-known for.

As you follow the path through the forest, deeper and deeper inwards, you find yourself getting continuously more exhausted, even though you’re walking on a normal road across flat terrain. You’re getting really tired, and suddenly you notice the eerie silence around you, occasionally interrupted by the ruffling leaves above, or a small water stream gently running by. But for how long have you even been walking? Thirty minutes? Or more like two hours? Maybe six? A quick rest would probably fix your little problem.

But it wouldn’t.

The old scrolls and exploration logs describe this effect too, and it is more dangerous than you might think at first. The more time one spends in the Ivory Forest, the weaker he or she will get, as the trees (or ground, it has not been fully explained yet) constantly drain the life of their trespassers. It is unknown for how long one can stay alive under these circumstances, since losing the track of time is a common phenomenon for wanderers in it, or why this anomaly exists, or, more importantly, how.

Maybe time will tell, but until then, it would be wise to just stay away from Ivory Forest.
