"Sand Slips Through Our Hands"

by: Wes Robert Ward

If only I had in my reach some secluded peaceful beach. I lay and die upon the land, and let the white sand claim my departing soul. Oh so sweet and slow, and as the blue waves wash over me like a blanket from the sea I'll feel like I've lived again just a little before my end.

To beach or not to beach that is the question. The answer is within the sand that slips through our hands.

To die, to die, as I gaze upon the horizon. To eye the sun, to see the sea. To feel and smell the salty air. To not worry or not to care but to sit or lie, then close my eyes and then to die.

To beach or not to beach that is the question. The answer is within the sand that slips through our hands.

And yet many of us die in bed. Let me die somewhere else instead. A tree or rock is fine, by woodland or prairie is secondary, yet my fading heart yearns for sand and sea\u2026 a beach just for me.

To beach or not to beach that is the question. The answer is within the sand that slips through our hands.

A beach, a beach within my reach. I hold my hand to my Lord. I implore, I entreat, and I beseech. I close my eyes and then I die. And alas I am dead in my bed.

To beach or not to beach that is the question. The answer is within the sand that slips through our hands.

When I wake, I stand on sand and sea spiritually, and within my teary eyes I see Jesus coming over the ocean beyond the sun just for me. He walks over the water and onto sand, and takes my hand to the sacred land.

To beach or not to beach that is the question. The answer is within the sand that slips through our hands.
