“Catalogue of Ridge Farm Herd of Pure Bred Small Yorkshire
Swine.
Ridge Farm, Aldenville, Wayne Co.,
Pennsylvania.”

In the 1880s, William C. Norton owned Ridge Farm,
Aldenville, PA, and at that time published this “Catalogue of Ridge Farm Herd of Pure Bred Small
Yorkshire Swine”. That farm later became the property of the Rude family, who
own Ridge Farm at the present time.

William C. Norton (b. 10-10-1852) was the third son of Edmund Kirby Norton (b. 06-03-1819) and Clarissa N. McMullen, who he married on January 5, 1843. William married, first, on 10-09-1877, Mary M. Stone, and, second, on 12-03-1879, Jessie M. Peck.

Edmund was the older son of Sheldon Norton (11-26-1793--09-15-1838) who (together with the Sheldon Norton family and the Levi Norton family) moved to Wayne County, from CT, in 1812, and on 09-14-1818 married Harriet Spencer (when Sheldon died in 1838, Harriet married Rufus Grinnell). Sheldon's father was Levi Norton (05-13-1759--01-21-1823), who married Olive Wheeler on January 21, 1783. In May, 1812, Levi and Olive (Wheeler) Norton moved from Goshen, CT, to Wayne County, PA.

In May 1979, John Rude (via Edith A. Gardner of
Carbondale, PA) lent S. Robert Powell this Ridge Farm Small Yorkshire Swine catalogue, and Powell made the copy
of this catalogue that is presented here.
