Symphony No. 14, Op. 135 by Dimitri Shostakovich (1906-1975). The Moscow Chamber Orchestra conducted by Rudolf Barshai. Margarita Miroshnikova, soprano; Yevgeny Vladimov, bass. This was the world premier recording of this 1969 symphony and was recorded in Moscow in 1970. Transfer from the original Angel stereo LP SR-40147 by Bob Varney.


The work has eleven linked movements,
each a setting of a poem, with a total duration of around 45 minutes:
