Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16 by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907). The Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of New York (The New York Philharmonic) conducted by Efrem Kurtz (1900-1995) with Oscar Levant (1906-1972), piano. Mr. Levant was not just a famous pianist, but a composer, conductor, author, actor and more. He was also a famous wit. He once said, "I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin." This recording is noteworthy as it was part of the group of 105 LPs issued by Columbia records in the summer of 1948. They were the first LPs ever issued. The set began with 4001, making this LP #28 of the zillions issued since then. Transfer from the original mono LP ML 4028 by Bob Varney.
