Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 (Choral) by Ludwig von Beethoven (1770-1827). The Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Wilhelm Furtwangler (1886-1954). Soloists include Elisabeth Schwarzkopf (1915-2006), soprano; Elisabeth Hongen (1906-1997), contralto; Hans Hopf (1916-1993), tenor and Otto Edelmann (1917-2003), bass. Recorded in August 1951 in the Festspielhaus at the Bayreuth Festival in Bayreuth, Germany. It was the reinauguration of the festival following WWII. Transfer from the mono Seraphim reissue IB-6068 by Bob Varney.
