Google+ has a method to mute posts, but this is like a permanent block.
They will not appear in future search results and unless you save the direct link you cannot unmute them.
This extension provides a way to temporarily hide posts from your stream for one week.
You can keep your stream filled with only the most interesting current posts and all the others still appear in searches.
