Efthimiou was called up to the senior indoor Soccer Bowl in 1990 and was drafted by the Dallas Sidekicks in the fourth round (thirty-first overall) of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft.He later signed with the Dallas Sidekicks as a free agent in 1993 and played until 1999 winning two championships.

After college, he played for FC Dallas in the Lone Star Soccer Alliance and won the LSSA championship. Efthimiou also won the championship with the Austin Thunder and signed with the Dallas Sidekicks as a free agent in 1993. Efthimiou played with team mates such as Rusty Troy,Corey Hooper and Chuck Salas.
