Eli and Robin at Lucky Mud with Nancy and Sebastian's blue truck and my black Ford flatbed. Fall 1974. My guess is there may have been chickens living in that outbuilding by this time. That outbuilding had been built more recently than the barns and chicken coop/kennel. It was constructed entirely of milled lumber and wire nails. It had a shake roof, as all of the buildings did when we bought the place.

The closest tree (with a split trunk) is another antique apple that continued to fruit. Some of those trees are still bearing fruit today, in 2020.

My truck had a heavy duty expanded metal \u201cfence\u201d at the cab end of the bed to protect the bed and provide some ties. When the truck had died, Bob took the fence and fashioned two stair steps leading onto Eric\u2019s front porch. Very effective for scraping the mud off one\u2019s shoes if you\u2019re slick shod. I like it a lot that it got used past its use on the truck, and that its use was associated so intimately with my old friend. I think of him often and rue his passing.
