One Page Content Planning Invoice Template for Strategic Content Management

This Excel template is a unique fusion of two critical business functions — Content Planning and Invoicing — unified into a single, streamlined, one-page interface. Designed for marketing teams, content creators, freelancers, and small agencies, this template enables users to track planned content assets alongside their associated financial invoicing data without switching between multiple files or systems. By merging planning with billing in a clean One Page layout, it eliminates redundancy and enhances workflow transparency.

Sheet Names

This template uses only one sheet named: Main Dashboard. Every element — from content calendars to invoice summaries — is embedded within this single worksheet for simplicity and real-time visibility. No hidden or auxiliary sheets are used, ensuring portability and minimizing compatibility issues across Excel versions.

Table Structures

The template features three integrated tables:

  1. Content Planning Log: Tracks planned content pieces by type, topic, deadline, channel, and status.
  2. Invoicing Tracker: Records client invoicing details tied directly to each content asset.
  3. Summary Metrics Panel: Displays KPIs such as total invoiced amount, pending invoices, planned vs. completed content, and average revenue per piece.

Formulas Required

  • In the “Amount ($)” column: =IF([@Type]="Blog", 150, IF([@Type]="Video", 400, IF([@Type]="Infographic", 250, 180))) — assigns base rates by content type.
  • Total Invoiced: =SUM(InvoicingTracker[Amount ($)])
  • Pending Revenue: =SUMIFS(InvoicingTracker[Amount ($)], InvoicingTracker[Status], "Sent") + SUMIFS(InvoicingTracker[Amount ($)], InvoicingTracker[Status], "Overdue")
  • Completion Rate: =COUNTIF(ContentPlanningLog[Status], "Published") / COUNTA(ContentPlanningLog[ID])
  • Invoice ID Auto-Generate: =CONCATENATE("INV-",TEXT(ROW()-4,"000")) (adjusted for header rows)

Conditional Formatting

  • Status = "Overdue": Red background with white text.
  • Status = "Published": Light green fill.
  • Amount ($) > $300: Yellow highlight to flag premium services.
  • Publish Date within 3 days: Orange border to alert upcoming deadlines.

User Instructions

  1. Enter new content in the Content Planning Log using the dropdowns for consistency.
  2. Link each content item to a client and assign a publish date. The system auto-generates an Invoice ID when you enter data in the Invoicing Tracker.
  3. Fill out invoice details only after approval. The Amount ($) column will auto-calculate based on content type.
  4. Update Status columns weekly to reflect progress — this drives your summary metrics.
  5. To add a new row, simply copy the last row’s formatting and formulas using Ctrl+D or right-click → Fill Down.
  6. Do not delete rows; instead, mark as “Cancelled” if content is scrapped.
  7. All charts update automatically. Use the Summary Metrics Panel for monthly reports to clients or stakeholders.
