  • Grocery List – Dynamically generates shopping needs based on planned meals.
  • Dashboard – A visual analytics hub with charts and KPIs for content planning insights.

Table Structures and Column Definitions

Monthly Calendar Sheet

This sheet is structured as a grid representing each day of the month, with rows for meal categories:

  • Date (Column A) – Date format (YYYY-MM-DD), auto-populated for the entire month.
  • Day of Week (Column B) – Text: Monday, Tuesday, etc., using =TEXT(A2,"dddd").
  • Morning Snack (Column C) – Dropdown list pulled from Meal Database.
  • Breakfast (Column D) – Dropdown list pulled from Meal Database.
  • Lunch (Column E) – Dropdown list pulled from Meal Database.
  • Dinner (Column F) – Dropdown list pulled from Meal Database.
  • Evening Snack (Column G) – Dropdown list pulled from Meal Database.
  • Notes (Column H) – Free-text field for meal modifications, leftovers, or dietary notes.

Meal Database Sheet

This reference table serves as the master library of all meals:

  • Meal ID (Column A) – Unique alphanumeric ID (e.g., M001).
  • Meal Name (Column B) – Text name of the dish.
  • Category (Column C) – Dropdown: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack.
  • Cuisine Type (Column D) – Text: Italian, Mexican, Vegan, etc.
  • Prep Time (Minutes) (Column E) – Number: Estimated cooking time.
  • Servings (Column F) – Number: How many people the meal serves.
  • Calories per Serving (Column G) – Number.
  • Protein (g) (Column H) – Number.
  • Fat (g) (Column I) – Number.
  • Carbs (g) (Column J) – Number.
  • Ingredients List (Column K) – Text: Comma-separated list of ingredients.

Formulas Required

  • In the Monthly Calendar, dropdown lists for meal cells are created using Data Validation with Source: =INDIRECT(“MealDatabase[Meal Name]”).
  • The Nutrition Summary sheet uses SUMIFS formulas to pull daily totals: =SUMIFS(MealDatabase[Calories per Serving], MealDatabase[Meal Name], MonthlyCalendar!C2) for each meal cell.
  • Total weekly calories and macros are calculated using =SUM() across the week's daily totals.
  • The Grocery List sheet uses UNIQUE and TEXTJOIN functions to compile ingredients from selected meals: =TEXTJOIN(", ", TRUE, UNIQUE(FILTER(MealDatabase[Ingredients List], ISNUMBER(SEARCH(MonthlyCalendar!C2:C32, MealDatabase[Meal Name])))))
  • A dynamic date generator in Column A uses: =DATE(YEAR(TODAY()), MONTH(TODAY()), ROW()-1) to auto-fill the month.

Conditional Formatting Rules

  • Cells with meals marked as “Vegan” or “Gluten-Free” highlight in green.
  • Days with 3+ meals from the same category (e.g., 3 dinners of pasta) are highlighted yellow to encourage dietary variety.
  • Meals exceeding 800 calories per serving are flagged in red for users focused on calorie control.
  • Empty meal cells (no selection) appear with a light gray background and prompt text: “Plan this meal.”
