Formulas Required
In the Shopping List sheet, column H (Linked Content Date) uses a formula: =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(C2,'Content Calendar'!$A:$F,1,FALSE),"") to auto-link items to content dates.
Status column uses: =IF(G2="","To Buy",IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(D2,{"Bought","Not Needed"},0)),D2,"To Buy")) for dynamic status validation.
Total cost of shopping list: =SUMIFS(G:G, E:E, "To Buy") to calculate remaining budget.
Status = Bought: Light green fill (RGB 198, 239, 206)
Priority = High: Bold red text in Content Calendar
Cost > $50: Orange border around row in Shopping List
Due date overdue (past today): Yellow background with bold black text on linked shopping items.
Instructions for the User
This template is designed for personal, non-commercial use. Begin by entering your planned content dates in the Content Calendar sheet, specifying type, title, priority and deadline. Then switch to the Shopping List sheet and enter all physical or digital items required to execute each piece of content. Use dropdown menus (Data Validation) for Status and Category to maintain consistency.
Every item you add will automatically link back via formula to its associated content date—making it easy to see what’s blocking your next video or blog post. Update the status as you shop, and watch your Progress Dashboard update live. Use this weekly: every Sunday night, review “To Buy” items and schedule shopping trips. This ensures no content idea stalls due to missing resources.
Recommended Charts & Dashboards
Progress Dashboard Sheet Includes:
Pie Chart: Percentage of shopping items by category (Audio, Lighting, Props, Software)
Bar Chart: Monthly content output vs. planned goals
The dashboard pulls data from all sheets dynamically using SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, and PivotTables. No manual updates required.
Why This Template Works for Personal Use Content Planning
This is not a corporate workflow tool—it’s built for individuals who want to reduce stress and increase creativity through structure. By treating your content creation like a shopping list, you eliminate the “I forgot I needed that mic” panic. You can print this template, stick it on your fridge, or sync it to OneDrive for mobile access. The personal use license means you’re free to modify colors, add columns for pets who appear in videos (yes, we’ve seen it), or embed family member feedback notes. It’s flexible enough for a weekend hobbyist and structured enough to keep you consistent over months.
Start today: Add your next content idea. Then write down what you need to buy. See how simple productivity becomes when planning and purchasing align.
