Weekly Content Planning & Stock Control Excel Template

This comprehensive Excel template is meticulously designed for content creators, digital marketers, and media managers who need to align their content planning strategies with real-time stock control of physical or digital assets — all on a weekly cadence. The integration of these three critical domains — Content Planning, Stock Control, and Weeekly Tracking — ensures that content production does not outpace inventory, and that promotional cycles are synchronized with available resources.

SHEET NAMES

The template comprises four interconnected sheets:

  • Weekly Content Calendar – Central hub for scheduling content topics, formats, channels, and deadlines.
  • Inventory Stock Log – Tracks physical/digital assets (e.g., promotional items, branded merchandise, digital assets like templates or videos) by SKU or ID.
  • Stock-to-Content Match – Dynamic bridge sheet linking inventory to planned content pieces via unique identifiers.
  • Dashboards & Alerts – Visual summary with charts and conditional warning flags.

FORMULAS REQUIRED

  • In Weekly Content Calendar, the column “Date (Monday)” uses: =TODAY()-WEEKDAY(TODAY(),2)+1 to auto-populate the current week’s Monday.
  • In Stock-to-Content Match, a SUMIFS formula pulls total units needed per SKU: =SUMIF('Weekly Content Calendar'!E:E, A2, 'Weekly Content Calendar'!F:F) where column A contains SKU IDs.
  • In Inventory Stock Log, “Current Stock Level” updates dynamically using: =InitialStock - SUMIFS('Stock-to-Content Match'!B:B, 'Stock-to-Content Match'!A:A, A2)
  • Critical Flag uses: =IF([@[Current Stock Level]]<=[@[Reorder Point]], "Yes", "No")

CONDITIONAL FORMATTING

  • Weekly Content Calendar: “Status” column uses color rules: Green = Published, Yellow = Review, Red = Delayed.
  • Inventory Stock Log: Rows with “Critical Flag” = “Yes” highlight in red; stock levels under 20% of reorder point flash amber.
  • Stock-to-Content Match: If “Units Required” exceeds “Current Stock Level”, the row turns orange as a warning.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USER

Weekly Workflow:

  1. On Monday, update the "Date (Monday)" field — it auto-refreshes all weekly references.
  2. Add new content ideas to the "Weekly Content Calendar", including required SKU IDs and estimated units.
  3. Check “Stock-to-Content Match” for any shortages or over-allocations before finalizing plans.
  4. Update “Inventory Stock Log” with received shipments or used items at week’s end.
  5. Review the Dashboard for alerts. If any item is flagged “Critical”, trigger a reorder immediately.
  6. Archive completed weeks by copying the sheet to an "Archive" folder and clearing weekly fields.

Note: This template works best when content and inventory teams share access in real-time. Use Excel’s “Shared Workbook” or OneDrive/SharePoint for collaboration.
