Extended Weekly Planner for Content Planning

The Extended Weekly Planner for Content Planning is a comprehensive Excel template designed specifically for content creators, marketing teams, social media managers, and editorial staff who require a structured yet flexible system to plan, track, and optimize their weekly content output. Unlike basic weekly planners, this Extended version integrates advanced data tracking, automated calculations, conditional formatting rules, and visualization dashboards to transform simple scheduling into strategic content operations.

SHEET NAMES

The template comprises five interconnected worksheets:

  • Content Calendar: The central hub for weekly content scheduling.
  • Content Registry: A master database of all planned and published content with metadata.
  • Performance Tracker: Tracks KPIs (engagement, clicks, shares) against planned goals.
  • Resource Allocation: Assigns team members to tasks and tracks workload.

FORMULAS REQUIRED

  • Date Auto-fill: =TODAY()-WEEKDAY(TODAY(),2)+1 to auto-populate Monday’s date, then +1 for subsequent days.
  • Status Color Code (indirect): Used with conditional formatting; not a formula, but triggers visual changes.
  • Total Effort Hours: =SUM([@Estimated Effort]) in the footer to calculate weekly workload.
  • Publishing Count: =COUNTIF(StatusColumn,"Published") to show content volume per week.
  • Due Date Alert: IF(AND([Due Time]“Published”), “OVERDUE”, “On Track”) for task monitoring.

CONDITIONAL FORMATTING

  • Status column: Green = Published, Blue = Scheduled, Yellow = In Review, Red = Draft/Overdue.
  • Priority Level: High → Red background; Medium → Orange; Low → Light Gray.
  • Effort Hours > 5 hrs per task → Highlight in light purple to flag burnout risk.
  • Duplicate Titles (in same week) flagged with yellow border using COUNTIF formula rule.
