The template features a modern Summary View, making it easy for users to monitor progress, identify patterns, and stay motivated. Whether you're building morning routines, fitness habits, or productivity rituals, this Excel-powered tool helps turn intentions into consistent actions.
Sheet Names and Purpose
The template is organized into three core sheets:
- Data Entry Sheet: Where users log daily habit completion (e.g., "Completed," "Not Completed"). This is the active tracking interface.
- Summary View Sheet: The central dashboard featuring performance metrics, streaks, averages, and visualizations. It’s designed for quick insights and long-term reflection.
- Habit Configuration Sheet: A setup sheet where users define their habits, target days per week, and preferences (e.g., color-coding).
Table Structures and Data Types
Data Entry Sheet
This sheet contains a dynamic table that tracks each habit across days. The structure is optimized for scalability.
| Day (Date) | Habit 1 | Habit 2 | Habit 3 |
|---|
Data Types:
- Day (Date): Date type (formatted as "dd/mm/yyyy")
- Habit Columns: Text or Boolean (Yes/No) with drop-down validation to ensure consistency.
Summary View Sheet
This sheet displays high-level insights derived from the Data Entry Sheet. The table structure includes:
| Habit Name | Target Days/Week | Actual Completion (%) | Current Streak (Days) | Longest Streak (Days) | Last Completed On |
|---|
Data Types:
- Habit Name: Text (linked from Configuration Sheet)
- Target Days/Week: Number (integer)
- Actual Completion (%): Percentage format, calculated dynamically.
- Current Streak / Longest Streak: Integer (days), using formulas to detect consecutive completions.
- Last Completed On: Date type (most recent date the habit was checked).
Habit Configuration Sheet
This sheet is used to define habits and settings:
| Habit Name | Target Days/Week | Color Code (for charting) | Notes / Goal Description |
|---|
Formulas Required
The template uses a combination of Excel functions to ensure data accuracy and automation:
- Completion Rate Calculation:
=IFERROR((COUNTIF(H:H,"Yes") / COUNTA(H:H)) * 100, 0)
(Applied in Summary View for each habit) - Current Streak Detection:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(H2:H366="Yes"), --(ROW(H2:H366)>=LARGE(IF(H2:H366="Yes", ROW(H2:H366)), 1)-50), --(ROW(H2:H366)<=LARGE(IF(H2:H366="Yes", ROW(H2:H36)H), 1)))
(This uses array logic to count consecutive "Yes" entries from the last occurrence) - Last Completed Date:
=MAXIFS(DataEntry!A:A, DataEntry!B:B, "Yes")
(Where B is the habit column) - Longest Streak Tracker:
A helper column in Summary View uses a combination of
IF,SUMIFS, and array formulas to detect peak streaks across the dataset.
Conditional Formatting Rules
To enhance visual feedback and encourage consistency, the template applies these rules:
- Completed Habits (Yes): Green fill with white text.
- Missed Habits (No): Light red background with dark red text.
- Current Streaks > 7 days: Gold highlight to celebrate momentum.
- Completion Rate ≥ 80%: Green bar in the Summary View percentage cell.
- Habit Completion Rate Below Target: Red border and italic text in Summary View.
