Data Types and Input Rules

All columns use standard Excel data types:

  • Date: Formatted as "MM/DD/YYYY" for consistency.
  • Text: Used for habit names and category labels.
  • Logical (Yes/No): For habit tracking cells. Can be entered manually or via checkbox controls (Developer Tab → Insert → Check Box).

Formulas Required

The template uses several built-in Excel formulas to automate data processing:

  • Daily Completion Rate:
    Formula: `=IF(COUNTA(B2:Z2)=0, "", COUNTIF(B2:Z2,"Yes")/COUNTA(B2:Z2))`
This calculates the percentage of habits completed on a given day.
  • Streak Counter:
    Formula (in Summary Dashboard): `=IF(MONTHLY_TRACKING_GRID!B3="Yes", IF(MONTHLY_TRACKING_GRID!B2="Yes", STREAK+1, 1), 0)`
Tracks consecutive days a habit was completed.
  • Monthly Completion Rate:
    Formula: `=COUNTIF(HABITS_LIST_TABLE[Status],"Yes")/ROWS(HABITS_LIST_TABLE)`
Calculates total completion percentage for the month.

Conditional Formatting

To enhance visual feedback, the following rules are applied:

  • Green Checkmarks: If cell contains "Yes", format as green fill with white checkmark icon.
  • Red X Marks: If cell contains "No", apply red background and a red cross (using conditional formatting with custom icons).
  • Streak Highlighting: Cells showing 7+ consecutive "Yes" entries are highlighted in gold to celebrate milestones.
  • Daily Completion Rate: If the rate exceeds 80%, fill cell green; if below 50%, fill red.
