- Total Income: =SUMIF(A:A, "Income", B:B) or =SUM(B5:B10)
- Total Fixed Expenses: =SUMIF(D:D, "Fixed", B:B)
- Total Variable Expenses: =SUMIF(D:D, "Variable", B:B)
- Total Savings: =SUMIF(A:A, "Savings*", B:B) or manually added from savings row
- Net Cash Flow: =Total Income – (Total Fixed + Total Variable Expenses)
- Savings Rate (%): =(Total Savings / Total Income) * 100
- Budget vs. Actual (Variable Expenses): =IF(B2 > C2, "Over Budget", "Within Budget") – where B is actual and C is budgeted amount.
Conditional Formatting
To enhance readability and highlight financial health instantly, the following conditional formatting rules are applied:
- Net Cash Flow: If positive (>0), cell turns green; if negative (<0), turns red.
- Savings Rate: Green if ≥ 20%, yellow if between 10%–19%, red if below 10%.
- Budget vs. Actual (Variable Expenses): Red background for amounts exceeding the budgeted value.
- Total Expenses: If total exceeds income, entire row turns yellow to alert overspending risk.
