Formulas and Automation Features
The Extended Chore Chart leverages advanced Excel formulas to reduce manual work and increase reliability:
Auto-Assignment Validation: Uses =IFERROR(VLOOKUP(...), "Unassigned") to ensure only valid names are assigned.
Daily Status Tracking: A formula in the Daily Schedule sheet uses =IF(AND([@Date]=TODAY(), [@Status]="Complete"), "✔️", "") for real-time visual feedback.
Completion Percentage: On the Progress Tracker, =COUNTIF(Chores[Status], "Complete") / COUNTA(Chores[Status]) * 100 calculates completion rates.
Reward Points Accumulation: Uses nested IF, SUMIFS, and COUNTIFS to tally points based on chore difficulty and frequency.
Dates & Recurrence: The template includes a formula-driven recurrence engine using the EDATE() function for weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly chores.
Conditional Formatting Rules

User Instructions
Open the Excel file and enable macros if prompted (required for full functionality).
Navigate to Settings & Help to customize household members, chore categories, and reward points.
Add new chores via the Chore Master tab: Enter the chore name, assignee, frequency (Daily/Weekly/Monthly), priority level (Low/Med/High), and expected time in minutes.
Use the Daily Schedule to view upcoming tasks. Each row shows what each household member is expected to do on that day.
Mark chores as complete by clicking the checkbox next to them or updating the Status column.
The dashboard in Progress Tracker updates automatically with completion rates, points earned, and participation heatmaps.
To unlock rewards, check the Reward System tab. Points can be redeemed for privileges like extra screen time or choosing the movie night.
Use Print Preview to generate weekly chore sheets for posting on the fridge or sharing digitally with family members.
