Formulas & Automation
The template leverages advanced Excel formulas to automate calculations and ensure accuracy:
- Dynamic Stock Calculation:
= Beginning_Stock + Orders_Placed - Forecasted_Sales - Reorder Trigger Alert:
=IF(Ending_Stock <= Reorder_Point, "Order Now!", "OK") - Lead Time Check:
= IF(Expected_Arrival - TODAY() > 30, "Delayed Risk", IF(Expected_Arrival - TODAY() < 0, "Overdue", "On Track")) - Stock Turnover Ratio (Monthly):
= SUM(Forecasted_Sales) / AVERAGE(Beginning_Stock, Ending_Stock) - Auto-fill Product List: Uses INDEX/MATCH to pull product data from the Inventory Master List into the Monthly Planner.
Conditional Formatting
To enhance visibility and support quick decision-making, the template applies strategic conditional formatting:
- Low Stock Alerts: Cells with
Ending_Stock <= Reorder_Pointare highlighted in bright red. - Pending Orders: Rows where
Expected_Arrivalis within 7 days of today are shaded yellow. - Bullish Turnover: High turnover ratios (>4 per month) are shown in green; low (≤1) in red.
- Danger Zone: If a product’s ending stock is negative, it shows as bold and flashing red.
User Instructions
- Begin by populating the Inventory Master List with all active products.
- Set realistic Reorder Points based on lead time and average monthly sales (e.g., if lead time is 14 days, reorder when stock covers 2–3 weeks of sales).
- In the Monthly Forecast & Replenishment Planner, enter projected sales for each product per month.
- Use the built-in formulas to auto-calculate ending stock and reorder triggers.
- Review the Dashboard weekly to identify overstocking, understocking, or delayed deliveries.
- Update orders based on alerts and adjust forecasts monthly as customer demand evolves.
