Compact Marketing Plan Chore Chart Excel Template
This Compact Marketing Plan Chore Chart Excel template is a uniquely designed productivity tool tailored for marketing teams and small agencies aiming to streamline campaign execution with clarity, accountability, and minimal overhead. Unlike traditional marketing plans that rely on lengthy documents or complex Gantt charts, this template merges the concept of a chore chart — typically used in households or classrooms to assign daily tasks — into a professional marketing context. The result is a Compact, visually intuitive, and highly actionable framework that turns abstract marketing goals into concrete, assigned responsibilities with clear deadlines and progress tracking.
Sheet Names
The template contains three primary sheets:
- Marketing Tasks: The core chore chart where all tasks are listed, assigned, and tracked.
- Status Dashboard: A real-time summary dashboard with KPIs and visual indicators.
- Resources & Guidelines: Reference material including definitions, tone guides, and contact list.
Table Structures & Columns (Marketing Tasks Sheet)
The Marketing Tasks sheet is organized as a single-table chore chart with the following columns:
| Column Name | Data Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Task ID | Number (Auto) | Unique identifier generated via row number. |
| Task Name | Text | Description of the marketing activity (e.g., “Draft Q3 Email Campaign”) |
| Type | Dropdown: Social, Email, SEO, Paid Ads, Content, Events | Categorizes task by marketing channel. |
| Assigned To | Text / Dropdown (Team Members) | Name of the person responsible. Pre-filled from team list in Resources sheet. |
| Due Date | Date | |
| Status | Dropdown: Not Started, In Progress, Completed, Delayed | |
| Prioritized? | Yes/No (Checkbox) | Flag for high-impact tasks tied to core KPIs. |
| Dependencies | Text | List of prior Task IDs that must be completed before this task begins. |
| Notes | Memo (Text) | |
| Days Until Due | Formula (Number) | Dynamically calculated: =MAX(0,DUE_DATE-TODAY()). Shows urgency. |
Formulas Required
The template uses the following critical formulas for automation:
=MAX(0,[Due Date]-TODAY()): Calculates “Days Until Due” — negative values are blocked to show only remaining days.=COUNTIF(Status:Status,"Completed")/COUNTA(Status:Status): Computes overall completion rate for the dashboard.=COUNTIFS(Type:Type,"Social",Status:Status,"Not Started"): Counts open social media tasks to highlight bottlenecks.=IF([Days Until Due]<3, "URGENT", IF([Days Until Due]<7, "Approaching", "")): Auto-tags task urgency in a new column called “Alert Level”.
Conditional Formatting Rules
To enhance visual scanning in this Compact design:
- Status = Completed: Green fill with white text.
- Status = Delayed: Red fill with bold white text.
- Alert Level = URGENT: Yellow background + red border.
- Prioritized? = Yes: Light blue row highlight (soft accent for critical tasks).
- Due Date within 2 days and not “Completed”: Flashing animation via conditional formatting (requires Excel 365 or later).
Instructions for the User
1. Begin by populating the Resources & Guidelines sheet with your team members’ names and contact info.
2. In Marketing Tasks, use dropdown arrows in “Type” and “Status” columns to select values — avoid typing manually for consistency.
3. Update the “Status” daily: even a quick change from “Not Started” to “In Progress” keeps the dashboard accurate.
4. Use the Status Dashboard sheet as your daily huddle reference — it auto-updates and includes progress bars and pie charts.
5. Filter by "Assigned To" to view personal task lists — perfect for morning check-ins.
6. Print or export as PDF weekly for team leaders; the layout is optimized for single-page A4 output.
