Simple Marketing Plan Payroll Excel Template
This Simple Marketing Plan Payroll Excel Template is a streamlined, intuitive workbook designed specifically for small marketing teams or freelance marketers who need to track payroll expenses directly tied to their marketing campaigns. While most payroll templates focus solely on employee salaries, and most marketing plan templates focus on budgets and KPIs, this hybrid template uniquely merges both functions into one cohesive system. It allows users to assign labor costs (salaries, bonuses, commissions) directly to specific marketing initiatives—ensuring accurate ROI calculations without requiring separate tools.
Sheet Names
The template contains three organized sheets:
- Marketing Campaigns – Lists active and planned campaigns with goals and timelines.
- Payroll Register – Tracks employee time, roles, hourly rates, and payments linked to specific campaigns.
- Dashboards – Visual summary of payroll spend vs. campaign performance metrics.

Instructions for the User
How to Use This Template:
- Create new campaigns in the “Marketing Campaigns” sheet. Define goals, budget, and payroll allocation percentage.
- Log all employee hours worked per campaign in the “Payroll Register.” Use the dropdown for Campaign ID to auto-link entries.
- Ensure Hourly Rate is accurate—this template does not handle taxes or benefits; those should be accounted for separately.
- The Dashboard automatically updates based on your inputs. Check weekly to compare payroll costs against campaign performance (e.g., leads generated, sales).
