Conditional Formatting Rules
- Red Fill: Assets marked “Decommissioned” or “Lost/Stolen” in the Status column.
- Yellow Fill: Assets with remaining useful life ≤ 1 year.
- Green Highlight: Assets assigned to active projects (based on Project Allocation End Date ≥ TODAY()).
- Bold Text + Orange Border: Any asset with missing Serial Number or Vendor information.
User Instructions
- Begin by populating the “Asset Register” sheet with all current research assets. Use the dropdowns for consistent data entry.
- Link each asset to its corresponding project using the Project Code field. Reference “Project Allocation” for valid codes.
- Update Status and Maintenance Log quarterly or after any repair event.
- The “Dashboards & Reports” sheet auto-updates with all changes — no manual edits required here.
- To decommission an asset, change its Status to “Decommissioned” and record disposal details in Notes. The template will exclude it from active totals.
- Use the filter buttons on the Dashboards sheet to drill down by department, project, or asset category.
- Print or export the “Dashboards & Reports” tab for audits or leadership reviews — this is your official Report Version.
