  • In the Project-Client Links, use VLOOKUP to pull Contact Person and Email from Client Directory by Client ID.
  • In the Dashboard, use SUMIFS to total funding per client type: =SUMIFS(ProjectClient[Funding Amount ($)], ProjectClient[Type], "Corporate")

Conditional Formatting

  • In Communication Log, highlight “Overdue” rows in red.
  • Highlight “Active” clients in green on Client Directory.
  • Use data bars on Funding Amount column to visualize financial contribution levels.

Instructions for the User

Step 1: Enter new clients into the Client Directory. Use dropdowns for Type and Status.

Step 2: Link each client to their research project using Project-Client Links. Always use Client ID for consistency.

Step 3: After every interaction, record it in Communication Log. Mark action items and set due dates.

Step 4: Review the Dashboard weekly to monitor active clients, overdue actions, and funding trends.

Do Not: Delete or modify rows in the tables—use Excel’s built-in filtering instead. Always save backups monthly.

All charts should be dynamic, linked to table data. Use slicers for filtering by date range or client type. This Basic-level dashboard ensures non-technical users can monitor research-client relationships without complex analytics tools.

By combining structured data entry, automation through formulas, visual indicators via conditional formatting, and clear dashboards—even in its simplest form—it empowers research teams to maintain professional client relations with minimal overhead.
