Instructions for the User

1. Begin by entering your funding sources and projected allocations under “Funding Sources & Allocations.”
2. Log every research expense in the “Research Expenses” sheet, ensuring each is linked to a Project ID and Funding Source.
3. In “Family Budget Tracker,” tag any household expenses supporting your research (e.g., internet for remote data analysis, printer ink for papers) as “Linked Research?” = Yes.
4. Update both sheets monthly. The Summary Dashboard auto-updates all metrics and charts.
5. Review the “Research Support % of Income” metric monthly. If it exceeds 20%, consider adjusting funding sources or budget allocations to avoid financial strain.
6. Use the “Funding Sources & Allocations” sheet to plan ahead for grant cycles or stipend changes.
