  • In the Project Overview sheet:
    • =COUNTIFS(Research Phases!E:E,"Completed")/COUNTA(Research Phases!E:E) → % Complete (dynamic)
  • In the Budget Tracker:
    • =SUM(Budget Tracker!D:D) → Total Actual Spend
  • In the Milestones & Deliverables sheet:
    • =IF(TODAY()>[End Date], IF([Status]<>”Completed”,”OVERDUE”, “On Track”), “On Track”) → Status alert formula
  • A dynamic Gantt chart is generated using stacked bar formulas based on Start/End dates, referenced from the Research Phases table.

Conditional Formatting

  • Status Column: Green for “Completed”, Yellow for “In Progress”, Red for “Delayed”.
  • Variance %: Red background if >15%, green if <-10%, amber between -10% and +15%.
  • Milestone Deadlines: Cells turn bold and red if deadline is past and status ≠ “Completed”.

User Instructions

Step 1: Open the template and enable editing. All cells are unlocked by default for full editability.

Step 2: Populate the "Research Phases" sheet with your project’s tasks, dates, owners, and dependencies.

Step 3: Use dropdowns in Status and Prioritization columns to ensure consistency.

Step 4: Update Actual Spend in the Budget Tracker as expenditures occur. The dashboard will auto-refresh.
