Instructions for the User
This template is designed to be filled in sequentially. Begin with the Project Overview to establish goals and scope. Then populate the Research Tasks sheet with granular steps — break large tasks into manageable sub-tasks. Update “Hours Spent” regularly, even if estimated, to improve future time forecasts. Record every source in the References sheet as you encounter it — this prevents plagiarism and saves hours during citation formatting. Use Budget & Invoices to track earnings and generate professional invoices instantly via auto-calculated totals. The Dashboard is updated in real time; refresh data (Data > Refresh All) if formulas don’t auto-update.
Example Rows
Tasks Sheet:
Task ID: 3 | Task Name: “Analyze survey data from 50 respondents” | Category: Analysis | Start Date: 2024-05-15 | Due Date: 2024-05-18 | Status: In Progress | Priority: High | Est. Hours: 8 | Hours Spent: 6.5
Progress % = (6.5/8)*100 = 81%
Recommended Charts and Dashboards
- Pie Chart: Distribution of Task Status (Completed / In Progress / Delayed) — embedded in Dashboard.
- Bar Chart: Hours Spent per Task Category — reveals time-intensive phases.
- Gantt-style Timeline: Use stacked bar charts to visualize task durations and overlaps (requires minor formatting).
- Budget Progress Gauge: A circular gauge chart showing % of budget used vs. remaining (use conditional formatting + spinner controls for visual appeal).
