One-Page Excel Template for Strategy Planning: To-Do List Format
This meticulously designed one-page Excel template is specifically engineered to support comprehensive strategy planning through an interactive, prioritized to-do list framework. Combining the essential elements of strategic goal-setting with actionable task management in a single, cohesive worksheet, this template enables users to visualize their strategic roadmap from inception to execution—all within a streamlined one-page interface.
Sheet Names
The template consists of only one sheet named "Strategy Planner". This singular focus ensures that all strategic planning elements remain consolidated and accessible at a glance, supporting the "One Page" requirement while maintaining robust functionality.
Table Structure and Layout
The main table occupies the central area of the worksheet, spanning from cell A1 to H30. This structured layout ensures that all critical strategic components are visible without scrolling, enhancing usability during planning sessions. The table is divided into distinct but integrated sections:
Strategic Goals Section (Rows 1–4): Top section for defining overarching objectives.
To-Do List Table (Rows 6–28): The core of the template containing tasks, owners, due dates, and statuses.
Status Dashboard (Rows 30–31): A summary panel displaying key metrics.

Formulas Required
The template includes several dynamic formulas to enhance automation and accuracy:
Task ID (Column A): Formula in cell A6: =IF(COUNTA(C:C)>0, "T" & TEXT(ROW()-5,"000"), "") This automatically generates IDs like T001, T002 based on row number.
Task Completion Rate (Dashboard): Formula in H31: =ROUND(COUNTIF(F6:F28,"Completed")/COUNTA(F6:F28), 2)*100 & "%" Displays percentage of tasks completed.
Overdue Tasks Counter: Formula in H30: =SUMPRODUCT(--(F6:F28<>"Completed"), --(E6:E28 Counts tasks that are not completed and past their due date.
Next Due Date Alert: Formula in H32 (optional): =MINIFS(E6:E28, F6:F28, "<>Completed") Returns the earliest upcoming due date.
Conditional Formatting Rules
To enhance visual clarity and highlight key information:
Overdue Tasks: Apply conditional formatting to columns C–H where Due Date is earlier than today AND Status ≠ Completed. Color: Red background.
High Priority Tasks: If column G = "High", apply yellow background with bold text.
Completed Tasks: When Status = "Completed", apply green background and strikethrough formatting to Task Description (Column C).
Due Within 7 Days: Highlight rows where Due Date is between TODAY() and TODAY()+7 with light blue background.
Instructions for the User

Recommended Charts & Dashboards
Although the template is one-page, consider adding a small embedded chart for enhanced visualization:
Pie Chart: Task Status Distribution: Insert a pie chart showing proportion of tasks by status (Completed/In Progress/Not Started/Blocked).
Bar Chart: Priority Level Breakdown: Visualize how many tasks are assigned high, medium, or low priority.
Gantt-style Timeline (Optional): Use a clustered bar chart in the lower section to display due dates across time.
These visual elements can be placed in the empty space below row 30 for an instant strategic overview. The template ensures that all strategy planning and execution details are contained within a single, actionable, one-page to-do list format—ideal for agile teams and executive leadership.
