Data Types & Formulas Required

  • All dates are stored as Date/Time type in Excel.
  • Progress (%) is calculated dynamically using: =IF(E2="Complete",100,IF(B2="",0,ROUND(C2/D2, 2))).
  • Running Balance (Savings Tracker): Use a formula like =SUM($E$2:E2) with absolute references for cumulative tracking.
  • Savings Goal Progress: Calculate % progress using: =IF(F2=0,0,ROUND(G2/H2, 2)), where G is current balance and H is target.
  • Status column uses dropdowns (Data Validation) to restrict entries to "Pending", "In Progress", or "Complete".
  • Priority uses a dropdown list with options: Low, Medium, High, Urgent.

Conditional Formatting Rules

  • Pending Tasks in Red: Format cells in "Status" column where value is "Pending" using red font.
  • Overdue Tasks (Yellow): If End Date is before today, highlight the row with yellow background.
  • Savings Progress (Green/Orange/Red): Format progress percentage cells:
    • <30% → Red
    • 30–70% → Yellow
    • >70% → Green
  • Urgent Tasks: Highlight rows with "Urgent" priority in bold blue font.
  • Overdrawn Balance: In Savings Tracker, if balance is below zero, highlight the row in red and add a warning message.
