Columns use the following data types: Date (yyyy-mm-dd), Text, Dropdown (Meal Type: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Snack), Text, Text, Currency ($), Boolean (Y/N), and Text. The “Dietary Category” column is manually entered but cross-referenced with the Dietary Preferences & Restrictions sheet to enable smart filtering.

Formulas Required

  • =SUMIFS(Daily Meal Log!F:F, Daily Meal Log!A:A, “&Summary View!$B$2”, Daily Meal Log!C:C, “Lunch”) — Calculates total lunch cost for a selected travel date on the Summary View.
  • =COUNTIFS(Daily Meal Log!E:E, "*Vegan*", Daily Meal Log!A:A, “&Summary View!$B$2”) — Counts vegan meals per day.
  • =SUMPRODUCT((Daily Meal Log!A:A >= Travel Start) * (Daily Meal Log!A:A <= Travel End) * (Daily Meal Log!F:F)) — Computes total trip meal budget.

Conditional Formatting

Key conditional formatting rules enhance usability:

  • Pending Meals (Yellow): Any entry with “N” in the Prepared column is highlighted yellow to prompt planning.

  1. Set Your Travel Dates: Enter your departure and return dates in the Summary View cell B1-B2.
