Abstract

This article examines the critical role of the Web Designer in facilitating digital transformation within developing economies, with a specific focus on Sri Lanka Colombo. As Colombo emerges as the commercial hub of Sri Lanka, there is an increasing demand for sophisticated digital presences among local enterprises, startups, and government entities. This paper analyzes how skilled Web Designers bridge the gap between traditional business models and modern e-commerce ecosystems. Through qualitative analysis of industry trends in Colombo, this study highlights challenges such as digital literacy disparities, infrastructural constraints5G adoption delaysand the imperative for culturally responsive design. The findings suggest that professional Web Design is not merely an aesthetic exercise but a strategic tool for economic empowerment and global integration in the Sri Lankan context.
