1. Introduction

For Nigeria, a nation with extensive coastline along the Gulf of Guinea and significant inland waterways, the efficiency of this sector is directly correlated with economic growth. However, challenges such as aging port infrastructure, environmental degradation in coastal communities like Lagos and Niger Delta regions, and the need for energy diversification require sophisticated engineering solutions.

This paper positions the Marine Engineer not just as a maintenance technician of ships and engines, but as a pivotal actor in national policy implementation.
