This poster presents a comprehensive analysis of the evolving role of the Accountant in Peru Lima amidst rapid economic shifts and stringent regulatory updates. As the economic capital of Peru, Lima faces unique challenges including tax reform implementation, digital invoicing mandates from SUNAT (Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria), and increased demand for forensic accounting services. Our study investigates how local accounting professionals are adapting to these pressures through technological integration and strategic consultancy roles. We argue that the traditional role of the accountant in Peru Lima is transitioning from a compliance-focused function to a strategic advisory position essential for corporate sustainability and growth.

The regulatory framework governing accounting practices in Peru has undergone significant restructuring over the past decade, particularly impacting firms operating in Peru Lima. The implementation of SUNAT's electronic invoicing system (Facturación Electrónica) has been a pivotal change, requiring accountants to master complex digital infrastructures. This shift has not only standardized reporting but also increased the volume of real-time data that must be processed and analyzed.

Key Challenge: Compliance with "Plan Contable General" updates and integration with government platforms requires continuous upskilling, often straining smaller firms in Lima's competitive market.

Furthermore, anti-money laundering (AML) regulations have expanded due diligence responsibilities for accountants. In Peru Lima's vibrant financial sector, professionals must now act as gatekeepers against financial crime, adding a layer of legal risk and ethical complexity to their daily operations that was less prevalent in previous decades.

To address regulatory burdens, accounting firms in Peru Lima are increasingly adopting Cloud Accounting Software (CAS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven audit tools. Our survey of 150 mid-sized firms in the San Isidro and Miraflores districts indicates a 60% increase in automation adoption since 2021. This technological shift has freed accountants from routine data entry, allowing them to pivot towards value-added services such as financial forecasting, risk management consulting, and corporate restructuring advice.

Strategic Shift: Accountants are now integral to C-suite decision-making processes, leveraging data analytics to drive business intelligence within Peruvian multinational corporations expanding from Lima.

This evolution requires a new competency framework for accountants in Peru Lima, emphasizing digital literacy, analytical thinking, and ethical judgment. Professional development programs from institutions like Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Lima are beginning to reflect these needs by incorporating data science modules into continuing education.

The role of the Accountant in Peru Lima is undergoing a profound transformation driven by regulatory complexity and digital innovation. This research demonstrates that successful accountants are those who embrace technology not merely as an efficiency tool, but as a strategic enabler for advisory services.
