This poster presentation outlines how specialized engineering expertise can address the immediate logistical hurdles in Kabul while laying the groundwork for long-term economic resilience.

The automotive landscape in Kabul is characterized by a mix of aging vehicles, inadequate fuel infrastructure, and road conditions that demand robust mechanical solutions.

  • Aging Fleet: A significant portion of vehicles operating in Kabul are outdated, lacking modern emission controls or safety features. This necessitates specialized retrofitting strategies rather than complete replacement.
  • Road Surface Degradation: The harsh climate and heavy load-bearing requirements on Kabul’s highways lead to rapid road degradation. Automotive engineers must collaborate with civil engineers to design suspension systems and vehicle weights compatible with current infrastructure limitations.
