Introduction

The role of the modern Biologist is increasingly critical in mitigating the anthropogenic impacts on global ecosystems. This study focuses specifically on the unique ecological challenges and opportunities within Brazil São Paulo, a region characterized by intense urbanization juxtaposed with significant pockets of native Atlantic Forest biodiversity. As one of the world's most populous metropolitan areas, Brazil São Paulo presents a complex case study for Biologists aiming to understand species adaptability in high-density human environments.

The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the correlation between green infrastructure density and local species richness among avian and small mammal populations in Brazil São Paulo. By adopting a rigorous scientific approach, we aim to provide actionable data for urban planners, highlighting how strategic conservation efforts can maintain ecological balance within one of South America's economic hubs.

Methodology

Over a period of 24 months, our team of researchers—acting as professional Biologists conducting fieldwork in Brazil São Paulo—deployed 50 camera traps and acoustic sensors across six distinct micro-regions. These regions ranged from the heavily industrialized zones in the north to the forest remnants along Pinheiros Creek.

  • Data Collection: Species identification was performed using DNA barcoding to ensure accuracy, a standard practice for any competent Biologist.


The study area in Brazil São Paulo was divided based on Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) maps.

Results

Our analysis revealed a direct positive correlation between contiguous forest areas and species survival rates. Notably, several key indicator species previously thought to be locally extinct in Brazil São Paulo were rediscovered. For example, the Atlantic Forest Spix's Warbler showed higher resilience in parks with native vegetation corridors. These findings underscore the importance of connectivity for local ecosystems and demonstrate that even a major city like Brazil São Paulo can support significant biodiversity if managed correctly by environmental experts and Biologists.

Discussion & Implications

The results suggest that urban planning in Brazil São Paulo must shift from isolated park maintenance to the creation of ecological corridors. This approach requires collaboration between policy makers and Biologists to implement sustainable land-use policies. Furthermore, this research highlights the necessity for public education regarding the value of native biodiversity within Brazil São Paulo.

Conclusion

This poster presentation synthesizes data collected by a dedicated team of Biologists working in Brazil São Paulo. We conclude that preserving biodiversity is not only possible but essential for the health and resilience of urban environments. Future research must focus on long-term monitoring and community engagement.
