This study highlights the unique challenges faced by Data Scientists operating in developing economies and proposes a framework for sustainable talent development within Nepal Kathmandu. By leveraging local datasets and global methodologies we demonstrate how the emerging community of data professionals can address indigenous problems while integrating into the global tech economy.Nepal Kathmandu stands at a unique crossroads. As the political, cultural, and economic hub of the nation it serves as the primary testing ground for digital innovations. The city is characterized by complex urbanization patterns, diverse demographic data, and a growing startup ecosystem known as "Startup Nepal." However this growth is often hampered by fragmented data systems and a lack of standardized analytics.
In recent years the government has initiated various e-governance projects aimed at improving transparency. Yet the gap between policy intent and execution remains wide due to insufficient analytical capabilities. This is where the profession of Data Scientist becomes pivotal. Unlike traditional software engineers, a Data Scientist possesses the interdisciplinary skills required to extract actionable insights from unstructured data—a critical need in a region where much of the societal data is still analog or semi-digital.
