The modern librarian in Kampala manages Institutional Repositories (IRs). These digital archives preserve the intellectual output of Ugandan scholars. This requires skills in metadata management,. database administration., and web-based learning platforms.

B. The Community Connector

In public libraries across Kampala such as the Uganda National Library service branches the librarian serves as a community anchor.
