By analyzing survey data from 150 tailors across key districts such as Raml Station, Sidi Gaber, and El Moharam Bey, this research highlights strategies of digital integration, niche marketing for expatriate communities, and hybrid business models that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fast-fashion aesthetics.
The traditional tailor in Alexandria, Egypt, stands at a critical juncture. The findings suggest that survival is possible through adaptation rather than stagnation. By leveraging digital tools and repositioning bespoke tailoring as a luxury service rooted in cultural heritage, Alexandrian tailors can navigate the challenges of globalization.
Future research should focus on longitudinal studies to track the long-term viability of these hybrid models. Preserving the craft is not merely about saving jobs; it is about maintaining the unique aesthetic and social character of Alexandria.
