The objective is to align local practices with international best while respecting cultural nuances unique to the United Arab Emirates Dubai demographic.

The healthcare sector in Dubai has experienced exponential growth over the last decade, driven by population expansion, medical tourism initiatives under Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations, and a national push toward preventative care. Within this ecosystem, maternal health remains a critical pillar. Historically, obstetrician-led models have dominated prenatal and postnatal care in United Arab Emirates Dubai. However recent studies indicate that for low-risk pregnancies midwifery-led continuity of care yields superior outcomes including reduced interventions shorter hospital stays and higher patient satisfaction scores.

This project aims to integrate the Midwife as a central figure in the maternal health journey across Dubai. It addresses gaps in accessibility, cultural competency, and holistic wellness support. By elevating the scope of practice for qualified midwives this report proposes a model that complements existing obstetric services rather than competing with them.

The primary goals associated with this initiative in United Arab Emirates Dubai include:

• To define clear scope-of-practice guidelines for the Midwife within the legal framework of the UAE.
• To enhance cultural sensitivity training ensuring that care provided by a Midwife respects Islamic traditions and local customs prevalent in United Arab Emirates Dubai.
• To implement tele-midwifery services leveraging Dubai’s digital infrastructure for remote monitoring of low-risk pregnancies.

Dubai boasts a diverse expatriate population alongside a strong Emirati citizen base. This diversity necessitates a healthcare approach that is inclusive yet culturally specific. The Midwife plays a crucial role in bridging cultural gaps through personalized education and emotional support.

In United Arab Emirates Dubai, there is an increasing demand for natural birth options and home births although the latter remains legally restricted to specific controlled environments. Consequently the traditional hospital-based midwifery model must adapt to offer "birth center" experiences within hospital premises that are less medicalized and more family-centered.
