This Purchase Order is issued by the Colombo Marine Research Institute to formally engage the services of a qualified Biologist for the period specified herein. The Biologist shall provide specialized biological research, field sampling, laboratory analysis, and scientific reporting services in and around Sri Lanka Colombo and its surrounding coastal and terrestrial ecosystems. This Purchase Order governs all terms, conditions, deliverables, and payment arrangements related to the engagement of the Biologist for the project titled "Coastal Biodiversity Assessment of Colombo Bay, Sri Lanka Colombo."

All services under this Purchase Order shall be performed primarily at the Colombo Marine Research Institute premises located in Sri Lanka Colombo, with fieldwork conducted across the Colombo Bay coastline, the Kelani River estuary, and the adjacent terrestrial habitats. The Biologist is expected to be physically present in Sri Lanka Colombo for a minimum of 120 working days during the contract period. Any travel beyond the Colombo municipal boundary shall be pre-approved in writing by the CMRI Project Director.
5. Terms and Conditions5.1 – This Purchase Order becomes effective upon written acceptance by the Biologist (Dr. Nimali Perera) and countersignature by the authorized representative of the Colombo Marine Research Institute. No work shall commence prior to the effective date stated in Section 6.
5.2 – The Biologist shall comply with all applicable Sri Lankan environmental regulations, including the National Environmental Act (No. 47 of 1981) and guidelines issued by the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Sri Lanka. All fieldwork in Sri Lanka Colombo shall adhere to local municipal by-laws and protected area restrictions.
5.3 – The Biologist warrants that all data, samples, and reports produced under this Purchase Order shall be original, accurate, and free from intellectual property infringement. All deliverables shall be submitted in both hard copy and digital (PDF) format to the CMRI records office in Colombo.
5.4 – Payment shall be made in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) via bank transfer to the account designated by the Biologist. Invoices are due within 30 days of receipt of approved deliverables. Late payments shall accrue interest at 2% per month as per Sri Lankan commercial law.
5.5 – Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with 30 days' written notice. In the event of termination, the Biologist shall be compensated for all services rendered up to the termination date, less any costs saved by the CMRI.
5.6 – The Biologist shall maintain professional indemnity insurance with a minimum coverage of LKR 5,000,000 for the duration of this Purchase Order. A certificate of insurance shall be provided to the CMRI prior to commencement of fieldwork in Sri Lanka Colombo.
5.7 – All disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall be resolved through arbitration in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in accordance with the Arbitration Act of Sri Lanka. The governing law shall be the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
