This Purchase Order is issued by the Kyoto Institute for Computational Sciences to formally engage the services of a qualified Mathematician for the duration of the project period specified herein. The Mathematician is expected to apply advanced expertise in stochastic differential equations, topological data analysis, and numerical optimization to support the Institute's ongoing research program on climate-pattern modeling for the Kansai region. The Mathematician shall report directly to the Project Lead and shall adhere to all institutional protocols governing research conduct in Japan Kyoto.

5.1 Commencement and Duration. The services under this Purchase Order shall commence on 1 July 2025 and shall continue for a period of six (6) months, concluding on 31 December 2025, unless extended by mutual written agreement. All on-site work shall be conducted at the designated facility in Japan Kyoto.
5.2 Payment Terms. Payment shall be made in three (3) equal installments: 40% upon execution of this Purchase Order, 35% upon delivery and acceptance of the topological data analysis report, and 25% upon final project completion and sign-off. All payments shall be remitted in Japanese Yen (JPY) to the bank account specified in Section 2. The Buyer shall process payments within thirty (30) calendar days of invoice receipt.
5.3 Intellectual Property. All mathematical formulations, proofs, algorithms, and written reports produced by the Mathematician under this Purchase Order shall become the exclusive property of the Kyoto Institute for Computational Sciences. The Mathematician retains the right to reference the work in academic publications with prior written consent from the Buyer.
5.4 Confidentiality. The Mathematician agrees to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all proprietary data, research findings, and internal methodologies encountered during the engagement in Japan Kyoto. This obligation shall survive the termination of this Purchase Order for a period of five (5) years.
5.5 Compliance with Japanese Law. The Mathematician shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations of Japan, including but not limited to the Personal Information Protection Act (APPI) and the Act on the Protection of Geographical Indications, as relevant to work conducted in Japan Kyoto.
5.6 Termination. Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with thirty (30) days' written notice. In the event of termination, the Buyer shall compensate the Mathematician for all services rendered up to the effective date of termination, pro-rated on a daily basis.
5.7 Dispute Resolution. Any dispute arising from or in connection with this Purchase Order shall be resolved through mediation in Japan Kyoto, in accordance with the rules of the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association. The governing law shall be the laws of Japan.
By signing below, both parties acknowledge that this Purchase Order constitutes a binding agreement for the engagement of the Mathematician for the services described herein, to be performed in Japan Kyoto. The Mathematician confirms availability, qualifications, and willingness to perform all duties outlined in this document.
